LGBTQ+ Support
Holderness Academy and Sixth Form College is an inclusive community where everybody is welcome. Teaching all students, regardless of their gender/sexuality, about LGBTQ+ inclusion is a key part of teaching our ARRK values, as it is important that we teach our students to respect and show kindness to others in both our school community and the society in which we live.
As part of our work to further strengthen LGBTQ+ inclusion in the academy, we are currently working towards the Rainbow Flag Award. This is assessed against six standards of:
- Skilled Teacher
- Inclusive Curriculum
- Pastoral Support
- Supportive Governors and Parents/Carers
- Effective Policies
- Student Voice
We also feel that it is important to support parents/carers with discussing LGBTQ+ inclusion at home. Resources are below to help with this, though please feel free to contact the school if you have any feedback or if you’d like support that is more bespoke.
