Artful Academy

Holderness Academy is celebrating eight of its talented students getting eleven pieces of art into the Ferens Art Gallery Junior Open exhibition 2018. The pieces included local landscapes in oil pastel and ink and realist self-portraits in pencil.

The successful entrants enjoyed their invitations to the exclusive opening on Saturday where one of their students, Cameron Erdis, was awarded first prize by The Friends of Ferens. Cameron entered a skilful and characterful self-portrait which was selected as 1st prize in the 15 years old category.

Mr Cotson, the head of Art at Holderness Academy, said 'It is fantastic that the Ferens Gallery provides this kind of opportunity to children of all ages to share their work on a grand stage, because it gives the students a real confidence boost and a real sense of pride. Our students were delighted to have been chosen and they all attended a packed Ferens Gallery on Saturday 1 December with their families to view their work. We are all very proud of each and every one of our talented students.'

Work will be on display in the Open Exhibition until 20 January 2019.
